Day in Oslo
Oslo is a great city. We got here yesterday after taking much of the day on a train from Gothenburg through sheeting rain. Today Kerrie wasn't feeling so hot, so we took it easy and wandered around downtown Oslo a bit. We spent some time sitting on the waterfront, explored the Akershus Slott ("slott" is Norweigan for "castle"), and had a nice meal at a cafe that was fancier than either of us expected. Kerrie at the rarest beef I've seen her ever eat (progress!) and I had a nice fish soup. The day was wonderfully sunny, but chilly and very windy.
This evening we got online and spent a lot of time figuring out what's next. We've decided that we'll move on to Bergen after we leave Oslo and use that as a base to explore the fjords a bit. We'll spend four nights there after three nights in Oslo (tonight and one more left) and then take a train all the way back across Scandinavia to finish in Stockholm as planned. We have five nights booked there.
The castle was very cool but the size of everything, combined with the bright sun and deep shadows, made it hard to capture the grandeur. You can pick up the Flickr picture stream here, jump to the start here, or see an overview of all the pictures from the trip here.
