Puppy Love

Hart and I recently brought home a sweet puppy named Macy. He's a six-month-old cute, energetic, loving, smart, fun and funny papillon-pomeranian mix. Like puppy love, though, our time with Macy didn't last long. Within a day of introducing him to his new home, Hart and I both realized that we were allergic to him. We tried all the meds and allergen reduction methods we could find until we had to admit that we couldn't keep him.

We adopted him from a family that had him for three months and loved him, but didn't think they could give him the attention he deserves. It was hard to take him back knowing the additional stress it would cause Michele, his "dog-mom," and her three-year-old daughter, but Michele and I agreed that she should be the one to adopt him out again. Because she adores Macy, I knew that she would scrutinize potential adopters. After many inquiries from families that didn't seem right for him, Michele selected a woman who declared her intention to have him neutered and microchipped immediately and requires a dog to be crated to ride in her car. It sounds like he's fallen in a pot of honey and that his new owner will make sure that this awesome dog has a great life. He will even get to travel with the family in their RV.

We're not sure if we'll continue looking for a dog, find a different pet we can both live with or simply visit with all the dogs we see. While we decide, we will look at the pictures and video of Macy and be thankful for the time we had with him and the knowledge that he has found a loving home.
