47 Degrees Inside
We broke "ground" in our first major house remodel this week. On Monday a carpenter came out and knocked three good sized holes in the wall of our living room, which means it's been a bit chilly in the house. They have plywood and plastic over them, but the wind still blows through them like gauze, and we decided not to try to heat the neighborhood. Space heaters are our friends! On Tuesday I woke up and the thermostat said it was 47 degrees. Brrr...
Why the holes, you ask? Well, we are adding two windows and a fireplace in the living room, along with a bunch of built-in cabinets and bookcases. The sketch/plan is posted right here. All these built-ins will basically cover the east wall of our living room.
In addition to the cabinets we'll be adding hardwood floors in the part of the downstairs that is just subfloor now and add crown molding in most of the downstairs. We'll post pictures as they are available. It's exciting to start on a project we've thought about for so long!
