Exertion Excursion

On Thursday, we got up and went into Picton for breakfast at a nice little place called Le Cafe that was right on the water. After we were finished eating, we dropped by the local information center and picked up what seems to be three pounds worth of fliers and maps covering much of the north part of the south island. We decided to drive up the road that runs next to the Queen Charlotte Sound track and look for some day hikes. We ended up pulling off near Mistletoe Bay and doing a two and a half hour round trip hike up to the aptly named Lookout Point. I said afterwards that it was our first "exertion excursion" because we climbed almost 1200 feet to get to the top. We stopped several times to take snapshots of the view and, needless to say, the view from the top was rewarding. From a little clearing at the lookout point we could see a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding sounds.

Unfortunately, we're at an internet cafe and can't post the pictures on these computers...as soon as we can get a connection from our laptop we'll get them up here!
