Itinerary for Hart's Sabbatical

Here's the bare bones itinerary we've finally settled on for the trip we're taking for Hart's sabbatical:

November 8: Fly to Auckland via Honolulu, arriving in Auckland on Nov. 10

December 7: Leave Auckland to spend two weeks on Maui

December 21: Go from Maui to Phoenix for a two-week Christmas visit

January 3: Return to Seattle

Yes, this description is minimal, mostly because are plans are vague right now. We will be renting a campervan, which is about the size of a VW bus that sleeps two and is the mode of transportation New Zealanders commonly use on vacations. New Zealand is know for great beauty and adrenaline-inducing activities and we're looking forward to enjoying both. In the next two weeks, I'll be reading guide books and focusing on specific cities and places to visit.

Visiting Maui is a decision we made this week, so I'm still researching lodging and travel. We'll stay in central Maui for the majority of the trip, but will spend a few nights in Hana. Our days will encompass what most trips to Hawaii seem to: lying on the beach, hiking, playing in the water, relaxing, shopping and eating.
